The reconstruction of University Avenue is getting started!
The City of Cedar Falls has awarded the University Avenue Reconstruction Project Phase 1 to K. Cunningham Construction Inc. of Cedar Falls, Iowa. This contractor will reconstruct University Avenue from Grove Street to McClain Drive as a part of this project. Beginning as early as Tuesday, March 1, 2016, the contractor will begin the installation of the water main by closing Valley Park south of University Avenue and through the south frontage road. In order for the contractor to begin pavement removal, a full road closure will be required. The road closure will be in effect for two weeks, depending on the weather. Below is an image with the closure area highlighted. Once the contractor has opened Valley Park south of University Ave, the contractor will install water main through the next intersection by closing Holiday Road south of University Avenue and through the south frontage road. In order for the contractor to begin pavement removal, a full road closure will be required. The road closure will be in effect for two weeks, depending on the weather. Below is an image with the closure area highlighted in red. For safety's sake, please stay away from the construction area. Heavy equipment will be moving back and forth on the closed street. It would be advisable to stay behind the sidewalk on the property side during the reconstruction work.
