The City of Cedar Falls has awarded the University Avenue Reconstruction Project Phase I to K. Cunningham Construction Inc. of Cedar Falls, Iowa. This contractor will reconstruct University Avenue from Grove Street to McClain Drive as a part of this project.
Beginning as early as Tuesday, March 8, 2016, the contractor will begin the installation of the storm sewer by shifting traffic westbound lanes on University Avenue between Valley Park Drive and Tucson Drive to the south side. University Avenue will remain open at all times. Traffic on University Avenue will be one lane in each direction at this location. Access to Valley Park Drive from the north side of University Avenue will be prohibited during this time. The traffic shift will be in effect for two weeks, depending on the weather. Below you will find a map with the closure area highlighted. For safety's sake, please stay away from the construction area. Heavy equipment will be moving back and forth on the closed street. It would be advisable to stay behind the sidewalk on the property side during the reconstruction work. If you want to receive road closure notices by e-mail, the City of Cedar Falls has a “Notify Me” feature on the City web page at www.cedarfalls.com.
